Sneaky thought 3. This comes up fairly frequently when I’m coaching. But it doesn’t sit on the surface, it sneaks around in the back. I’ve spent many coaching sessions exploring something which isn’t working/happening in the workplace to find this thought is laying behind it. Smart enough for what? If you’ve been brought up in the UK you’ve done testing since you were a kid. You might think that a B grade means you aren’t smart. You might think a D grade means you aren’t smart. This thought does not discriminate! In my coaching it’s mainly been an issue for people who appear to be pretty smart. But what does smart mean? And who decides? A test? Your primary school teacher? What if you just decided you were smart enough? Imagine saying to yourself as you are ponding a hard problem ‘I am smart enough to figure this out’. Feels so different to ‘I’m just not smart enough. Is this your sneaky thought? If so challenge it today, ask, for what?

Worry is a thief. It robs you of PEACE you could have today. Worry WANTS so bad to be necessary. But it isn't. It doesn't solve problems (other emotions do... not worry). Worry is ALL about the future and distracts you from the PRESENT. It doesn't want you feeling faith and belief so it takes it from you. But WE CREATE THE WORRY. We do it with our thoughts, that seem OH SO useful. It seems "loving" to worry about someone. WORRY ISN'T LOVE. Worry is fear, insecurity, and doubt. Worry is lack of confidence - in ourselves and others. I worry my child won't make good choices. I worry they won't won't get into a good college. I worry they'll be lazy and live with me my whole life. I worry they'll be unhappy. I WORRY I'LL WORRY ABOUT THEM MY WHOLE LIFE. I have heard ALL of these this week from clients. I've thought them myself. When someone outside of us shows us that these thoughts are OPTIONAL, do NOTHING to solve any problem today, and significantly limit the peace and happiness we can feel TODAY.... our lives change. We feel different and show up as confidently to the world. Don't be tempted by worry. Don't believe it's desire to be needed. Worry is optional. I help all of my clients calm the worry. ⬅️ SWIPE . When you understand that you can control the way you feel by controlling the way you think, you gain your power back... and it all becomes a game, just like a video game. I want to share a technique today with you that has been very useful for me and for my clients. The more you practice, the more you will do this exercice without even being aware of it. This is a cognitive behavioral thought model developed by Brooke Castillo called the CTFAR method. It is an extremely powerful method to reverse the way we think about a situation and then feel. You see, situations and circumstances are always neutral. That is the way we think about these circumstances that matters. So here is the CTFAR Method (slide 2 on the pic): . * A Circumstance is going to lead to: * A thought that is going to lead to * A feeling that is going to lead to * An action that is going to lead to * A result . . Example: ☘️A Circumstance: A deadline at work ☘️The thought linked to it: So much to do , I can’t do it al ☘️The feeling linked to it: I feel overwhelmed ☘️The action leading: Procrastination ☘️The result of all this: The work doesn’t get done. . ********************* HOW TO REVERSE THE RESULT? You are going to write and change the way you think: ☘️ A Circumstance: A deadline at work ☘️The thought linked to it: So much to do but I can do my best to do it. ☘️The feeling linked to it: Determined ☘️The action leading: I am going to plan, take action and focus. Prioritize. ☘️The result of all this: The work gets done. Now your turn. Use this exercice whenever you feel overwhelmed by a situation or feelings.

Sneaky thought no 2 - I’m just rubbish at making decisions. Guess what we found out about this thought when we put it up to enquiry? It wasn’t totally true, but, it was making my client worse at making decisions. By itself. The thought I’m rubbish at making decisions, alone, was making her worse at making decisions. Plus, it was making her doubt the decisions she has made in the past; thereby making her more nervous about making decisions about the future. In fact, it was a sentence which was slowing her down, paralysing her thinking, making her doubt all her past decisions and preventing her from making more without months of deliberation. Who wouldn’t thought it was the thought ‘I’m rubbish at making decisions’ that MADE her rubbish at making decisions. But it did and she had no clue (she does now). Once she really saw the issue, I had her write down all the ‘decisions’ she wasn’t currently making, then write her alternative thought at the top of her page, she chose: I am the decision maker There were 8 decisions to be made, big and small. She made them all right there. My friends, your sneaky thoughts are holding you back. Can you spot yours? This is what I help people to do, everyday 👌🏾

People are good. I believe this. On purpose, everyday. Lately, I have been finding lots of evidence that this is true. The kind man that helped me put air in my tire. Our sweet neighbor that rolls our garbage cans up the drive every Tuesday morning...just because. The cashier that chased me into the parking lot to let me know that I had forgotten my sunglasses. Clients that take the time to write a thank you note. Friends and family that dropped everything to stop by when they heard about the loss of our husky. Loved ones that forgive me when I stumble. Yes, my friends, people are good. Look for it. It’s always in front of us. You will find it. It’s going to be easy....

But that’s not the truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The fact is our circumstances are not in our control, but everything else is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our thoughts, feelings, actions, and results are 100% up to us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The thing is most of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours occur so automatically and unconsciously that we don’t even think to question them or even know how to. The Model offers that lens. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every single thing you do is because you want to feel a certain way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is useful to know because how you feel is determined by what you’re thinking. So wouldn’t it be helpful to know what you’re thinking? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everything you want in your life is because of a feeling. And everything you currently have in your life is because of a feeling. So if our thoughts create our feelings then our thoughts also create our life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Circling back to the earlier questions, if you want to understand why you don’t have the life you want, you must understand why you have the life you have now. first. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The reason you are or aren’t taking action will always be because of how you feel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It takes practice and coaching to witness the effect of our thinking on our lives, but The Model is how I am creating the exact life I want to be living and how I’m supporting my clients in doing the same. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Curious about what The Model could do for you? Yesterday was my 23rd wedding anniversary. When we got married I thought my husband should KNOW what I wanted for birthdays and anniversaries. Or any other moment. That's the true sign of love, right? I thought he should know exactly the "right" thing to buy or say or do. He should fulfill my needs, right? I learned quickly that, surprise, he wasn't a mind reader. We had wedding rings but no crystal ball. Which has been a huge blessing, actually! (Heavens knows it's a good thing no one can read my mind!!) I now know taking care of my needs is 100% my responsibility. Over the years I learned to communicate clearly if I have a request. Or send a friendly shopping link. AND I know my husband loves me regardless if he buys or does what I ask. He doesn't need to do, say or buy anything to make me happy. I am happy because of what I choose to think about him and about me. Lucky for both of us, I keep choosing day after day, year after year, to create a wonderful life with him. “I’m not smart, I’m not pretty, I’m not likable, I’m not special, I’m too old, I’m too shy, I’m not interesting, I’m not lovable...” In all the years I repeatedly told myself all of these lies, I’d never considered for a minute that they weren’t true 🤔 And although I had no proof to support my internal claims, I lived much of my life as though they were indisputable facts. I’ve learned an awful lot lately about belief ceilings & limiting beliefs. I’ve learned how debilitating they can be. I learned how much time you can waste trying to find ways to prove to yourself that you are right. Continually discounting your worth is a really handy way to keep yourself stuck, complacent and even comfortable. It’s easy to excuse yourself for not pursuing your dreams, for not removing yourself from a toxic relationship or for not taking time to present yourself as you truly want to be seen. When you think you have evidence to support your claims, any attempts to better yourself would be futile, right? I promise you my friend, those horrible things you say about yourself, they’re not real. They only exist in YOUR mind. The really great news here is you CAN start thinking different thoughts. You can remove the old defeatist thoughts and replace them with new, positive and provable thoughts! It takes daily work but it is possible! What is the first POSITIVE thought about yourself that comes to mind?

Nike was onto something.⁣ ⁣ "Just do it."⁣ ⁣ As teachers, we tend to obsess over EVERY.SINGLE.THING--even when they actually don't matter.⁣ ⁣ In our teacher brains, things are never "good enough" to be done--there's always more you can add. ⁣ ⁣ As teacher sellers, these thoughts become even more dangerous.⁣ Instead of accelerating your business, you are putting yourself on the sidelines of your potential success.⁣ ⁣ So here we go. Today's to-do list:⁣ ⁣ ✔Hit the publish button.⁣ ✔Post that product.⁣ ✔Send that e-mail.⁣ ✔Actually be done: no obsessing over what you could have/should have done⁣ ⁣ You can only move on to bigger and better things if you finish what's right in front of you.

Wait what? I first heard Brooke talk about this in reference to relationships. But really, I think it can be applied to so many areas of my life. The top being my lifestyle and relationships. . . While I think it’s possible to achieve contentment in the phase I’m currently in, I’m striving to get what I really want in areas that are within my control. For me, this looks like - planning my day to include more free time - SLEEP - Practicing photography as often as I can - Walking my dogs instead of CF when I’m tired - Spending a lot of time outdoors + with my dogs - Saying no to things that drain me - Asking for what I want from/with others (hardest for me) - Eating when I’m hungry and what sounds good . . What are some ways you are looking for more satisfaction and how are you going for it?

We need to talk about mindset more. I’ve gotten better at watching my mind in the recent years but it’s still a struggle. ⁣ ⁣ Yesterday was not an awesome day for me, nothing major just a few things that didn’t really line up the way that I wanted them to, which is frustrating for someone as Type-A and I am. ⁣ ⁣ Today when I got up, the last thing that I wanted to do was my workout. And truth be told, I could have skipped it. I did a tough workout yesterday and I’ll have plenty of time to do one tomorrow. I was on the verge of skipping it but if I did, that would have meant that my shitty mindset won and that’s something that I just can’t accept. I’ve let that happen too many times in the past and I refuse to let that be my reality now and in the future. ⁣ ⁣ So I begrudgingly put on my gear and went down into the freezing cold basement to ride for 30 minutes. In my mind there’s no reason that I can’t do at least that. ⁣ ⁣ Let’s just be clear - I wasn’t happy about it at all as you can probably see in the video. I was pissed and sad and annoyed. But when I was done I felt so much better. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve also been working hard at being ruthless with my time (ie: making and keeping a schedule) so that I can get sh*t done. It’s been going well but it’s hard when you work for yourself to always show up and do the work when there are so many other things that would be more fun. ⁣ ⁣ Keeping my promises to myself and showing up to do the work (whether it’s actual work or a workout) is how I define success these days. ⁣ ⁣ Did I show up and do what I said I was going to do at the time on the schedule, regardless of whether or not I want to do it? ⁣ ⁣ If yes, then success. ⁣ If no, then back to the drawing board to try again. ⁣ ⁣ How’s your mindset these days? ⁣ What are you working on? ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣7/300 ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #mindsetmatters #noteverydayisawinner #runfartherfasterstronger #sheruns #checkyourmindset #randomtalkingvideo #brookecastillo #showupanddothework

A belief is just a thought that we have had over and over and our brains have memorized it. We often live our lives looking through the lens of our beliefs. However, some of these beliefs may be hurting us. When we think these thoughts, we cause ourselves suffering and yet, we keep on thinking them and believing them. Let’s be done with that. The option to stop believing is always available. Our thoughts and beliefs are OURS to question. So, I let go of the beliefs listed above. Without them, I feel peaceful and free. So, I set them down. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Prepare to go deep!!! ⭐️ Now, important to note here is that I don’t believe we change who we are. We can rest. I believe that this being we are is inside experiencing the world through our thoughts (automatic thoughts, beliefs/assumptions, and core beliefs)... which make up the inner dialogue; our emotions (the results of our thoughts felt in our physical bodies); and our actions (our habits and choices)... So although you, the observer and experiencer remains; the experience of life changes a lot and constantly. People often think we are changing but rather it is the lens we have and thus the experience of life that is doing the changing; affirming that our value is unchanging with our actions. You are always enough... So, if the experience of your life is not great you have two choices: 1.) Make a choice to view current circumstances in a helpful way, accepting it as it is. Choosing to “like it”... ⭐️AND/OR⭐️ 2.) Make a choice to change the way you experience your life and those circumstances - in those three ways... ❤️ Really, both of these essentially mean the same thing. In that, I mean, if you’re choosing to like circumstances, you are changing your thoughts about those circumstances and that indeed results in changed emotions and actions by the nature of how the brain works. And, likewise, if you choose to change the way you experience your life, you are starting also with your thoughts. ❤️ You see the truth is that once you are aware that you’re not a victim, but always have a choice, then being stuck in the misery of your thoughts about your life is a choice. We become accountable for our thoughts. 🖐this isn’t something we need to get down on ourselves for, although the inner narrative will attempt to encourage this in the dialogue proposed; quite the opposite, it’s meant to lift blinders and open a world of possibilities for us = freedom!!! ❤️ You don’t have to accept the world as it is; that is, as you see it right now. You change the world by changing your perspective first, because it’s only with owning your power that you’re even able to take profitable action that has compounding results for the common good... for any good ❤️

Special tool today, the MODEL by Brooke Castillo! It became a reflex for me now to do the model when something bad happen to me. I try to change my thoughts about it and see the positive side of the situation. Here, a little example: C: My yoga class was cancelled and I learn about it when I’m already in the center T: I lost my time to come here and I will not have yoga today (I have to say at the moment it was the end of the world for me 🤣) F: Angry and disappointed A: I grumble and feel sorry for myself R: I don’t spend good times and I have negatives thoughts. So now I have this situation that put me in bad mood what can I change? My thoughts! SO let’s do another model now if I change it: C: Same situation. T: I have free time for me, I’m near the park now and even more the weather is sunny! F: Hopeful. A: I take a book and read in the park. R: I enjoy the sun and spend a good moment. 🌞 It’s a good exercise and help change our point of view about situation, and sometimes to understand where our emotions come from. I can for example start by the F, I feel sad today, and then complete the rest of the model. What are my thoughts, my action, what can I change? 9 years ago today we sold our midtown home and moved to the country. A few weeks later we bought JJ (Baby J) and her momma... 9 years later we live in Florida and I’m on a bronze medal journey with my Dutch Warmblood. I had no idea there was such a breed, I swore I would never do dressage and didn’t understand what collection was but it looked cool. Wherever you are today, it’s temporary. [Se tourner vers l’intérieur]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Et si la réponse était à l’intérieur ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Je sais que c’est difficile à croire, on est si attachés à ses pensées qu’on les confonds bien trop souvent avec la réalité.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pour mettre fin à cette tension, cette souffrance que l’on ressent, il faut se pencher sur la pensée qui déclenche cette émotion.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Parfois, on est tellement déconnectés de ce que l’on ressent, qu’il semble complètement impossible d’identifier la pensée à l’origine de ce mal être sur lequel on peine à mettre des mots.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ce flux discontinue de pensées négatives, qu’il soit généré par le passé et l’histoire (ou le bullshit) qu’on se raconte, ou encore la peur du futur et les projections cauchemardesques que l’on imagine et qui nous maintiennent éveillés la nuit, peut prendre fin en se concentrant sur l’instant présent (c’est la base de la méditation).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Et si l’on identifie la pensée récurrente qui tourne en boucle, qui a déjà fait mille fois le tour de notre esprit (et le constat reste sensiblement le même : cela ne change rien aux circonstances, qui l’eut cru ?!), cela nous permet de la décortiquer, de prendre du recul sur cette pensée et de la voir pour ce qu’elle est.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Les chiffres varient souvent mais il y aurait environ 60 000 pensées qui traversent notre esprit par jour, choisissons avec soin ce qui occupe notre esprit car c’est le fondement de nos émotions, nos actions, et les résultats qui en découlent dans nos vies…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #coaching #momentprsent #eckharttolle #penses #motions #brookecastillo #esthertaillifet #sesentirbien

When I got this DM from my client (and friend), I was so freaking excited!⁣ (SWIPE FOR DM’s) ⁣ See, when we had our consult call, she was working Dave Ramsey’s baby steps (on Baby Step 3) and was on a tight budget.⁣ ⁣ She really wanted to work with me but was trying to figure out how to pay and also had thoughts about having an added payment, etc ⁣ I coached her through all of that and then, she found a way.⁣ ⁣ Fast forward only 2 weeks in, she knocked out a goal she thought was going to take her forever and THE BEST PART is that she didn’t even hire me to coach her on this goal! ⁣ ⁣ This was just a byproduct of her investing into herself, being open and willing and doing the work!!!⁣ ⁣ And this is how it works!!! There is nothing better than a best friend. The one person that you can always count on. And then there is the girlfriend that often flakes on you. You make great plans with her and then at the last minute, she cancels or doesn’t show up at all. The first few times, you tell yourself,”Well things happen - it’s fine.” But, after repeated offenses, you start to doubt her. Maybe, you come to expect very little of her or stop believing her all together. It’s not really much of a friendship at that point. Have you ever been that kind of girlfriend to yourself? I have... Broken promises to eat less sugar, go to the gym, clean out my closet... Little things that my brain tells me are no big deal. But, broken commitments chip away at self respect. Your sub-conscious starts to believe that you can’t be trusted. Your promises lose their power. Best friends love each other and wouldn’t dream of letting the other down. They tell the truth, believe in your dreams and know your soul’s desire. Best friends matter. You matter. Having a best friend is wonderful. Being a best friend is even better. Being your own best friend is just plain priceless.

But, I was on my way to Wegman’s listening to The Life Coach School Podcast, as always, and this episode slapped me across the face... in best way possible 😅⠀ It was about Self-Confidence, but I’ll tell ya my takeaway from it all...⠀ •⠀ •⠀ Now, do me a favor and REALLY read this... ⠀ —⠀ “The only thing that prevents action, or from you from being the best version of yourself, or showing the world what you are capable of.... is your FEAR of feeling the EMOTION if it doesn’t work...”⠀ •⠀ •⠀ & THE WORST thing that could happen from you taking any kind of action— whether it’s having a difficult conversation, starting your own fitness journey, deciding to live your life differently... whatever it may be— THE WORST that could happen if it doesn’t work out... is a FEELING or an EMOTION. ⠀ •⠀ •⠀ And “when you recognize that you can handle any emotion, the life that lays out in front of you is LIMITLESS.” ⠀ Whether it’s the most joy you’ve ever felt from something amazing happening... or the terror you experience from taking certain steps to be who you’re meant to be...⠀ •⠀ •⠀ So, I’m asking you, whatever it may be— to just do it. Take action. One of my impossible goals is to travel to every Spanish speaking country. I’m getting closer but I’ve failed to meet my impossible goal so far. My last trip was to Peru. Here’s a picture of me after hiking Machu Picchu Mountain. (I’ll have done much more leg work in preparation for it next time!) Next on my list is Argentina. This June I'll have the opportunity to once again fail forward toward my impossible goal. One of my mentors, Brooke Castillo, teaches the concept of setting an impossible goal. An impossible goal is a goal that you truly don’t think you can accomplish, but it makes you excited when you consider the possibilities. So, if you’re an entrepreneur who’s just starting out you might have the goal of earning $100,000 in year one of your business. Or, you might have the goal of losing 30 pounds this year. Now, you and your brain believe that those goals are impossible because you’ve never met them before. So even if you fail trying to accomplish them, your brain isn’t going to freak out. You’re just going to take daily steps toward meeting that impossible goal anyway. And, you’re going to learn how to fail everyday as you try to meet your goal. Here’s what to do. You’re going to outline all the actions you’re committed to taking to meet this goal. And, you’re going to do each one. Be aware, you’re likely going to fail repeatedly in this process. But you already knew that so there’s nothing to freak out about. As long as you remain committed to taking the actions you set, everyday you’re going to learn, grow, and become more of the person you want to become. So, get out your journal and write down your impossible goal. Then begin brainstorming all the actions you’re willing to take to meet that goal. Then, begin taking those actions and notice who you’re becoming with each one.
