Shonali Bose has brought us a soul-stirring real life story of Aisha Chaudharya and her family, which was also documented by the former as a biographical book titled 'My little epiphanies'. The plot is a beautiful tapestry of events of the family. The trickiest part movie was to maintain suspense & interest even after breaking the main part of the plot to the audience in the beginning. The narration is a posthumous one, by Zaira Wasim as Aisha. The film has presented an unusual take on battling life's atrocities, but the outlook is more than commendable. The movie will fill you with positivity, instead of weighing you down by showing struggle of a couple.
The performances by all actors are remarkable but look out for Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has outshined exceptionally. Farhan Akhtar has done fabulously, as ever. Zaira's sickness and exuberance go hand in hand and Aisha could not have been portrayed any better. The music was modest, had a lot of scope to be better. The narration was tricky. Some would have found it cute while the excessive use of 'Moose', 'Panda' & 'Giraffe' could have ticked some people off.
The film has bravely put forth topics stigmatized by Bollywood since forever like sex life of our parents, abortion, and religious conversion. And not just the filmmakers but the brave family deserves to be thanked for that.
The film also addresses how such struggles distance the couple. What would their identity be without their children, this dependence how it adds or subtracts flavour from their marriage.
The theme of the movie which was dealing with your child's death was not new to the director as she has suffered the heart-wrenching loss herself, as this is shown towards the end of the movie. It also showcases the real clips from the lives of the family. Overal, the best part of the movie is how it binds and raptures everyone by emotion and connect. It's a must watch ! ❤️
