What if we could walk around holding a sign with the personal battles we are fighting written on it such as : “heartbroken” “grieving a loved one” “domestic violence victim” “struggling with infertility” “depressed” “struggling financially” “anxious” “suicidal” etc. ?
If that was possible, wouldn’t we approach each other cautiously, kindly, and compassionately? Wouldn’t we offer each other a smile, words of encouragement or help? Unfortunately, that is far from reality. There are millions suffering in silence ; your neighbor, your coworker, your employee, your boss, your teacher, your student, the person standing in line at the grocery store, everyone.
Today for our “Mommy and Me” date I taught my son an important lesson about compassion. Early in the morning, I helped him paint several canvas panels and we attached a card with a positive message to them. Once the paintings were dry and ready, we went around the city and we gave them to as many people as we could. Smiles, hugs, tears and stories were exchanged between strangers and us. Why did I do this?
♡ Because at some point in my life a stranger’s kindness got me through the day. ⠀⠀
♡ Because I am trying to raise a kind and compassionate son. ⠀⠀
♡ Because people need to know they are not alone. ⠀⠀
♡ Because no one is holding a sign yet I know we are all fighting for or against something.
I am sharing this with you hoping it motivates you to spread kindness. Please be the reason someone smiles and doesn’t give up today. 💕
“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal” 🌷💕🐣 ♡
