Going once, going twice…SOLD:
2019 was the year of the apotheosis for RM Sotheby’s auction in my opinion. From classic to modern hypercars, everybody could find their happiness. And to mark this year, they had an incredible classic race car for sales. This Ferrari F40 LM from 1987 is a real piece of art sold for more than 4,8 million euros (if I had the money, I would definitely pay for it). The story of this car is fascinating. At the beginning, this F40 (the third one) was used as a prototype car. But in 1992, it was sold at René Herzog. He send this F40 at Michelotto to be prepared with the LM specifications. After that it was sold to 2 different owners (even a certain Stéphane Ratel was one of the lucky owner). From 1995 to 1996, the car knows a brilliant racing career: 2 participations to Le Mans (with a 12th position overall in 1995), it wins at the 4 Hours of Anderstorp and a participation in BPR Global GT series. I think this F40 LM is the most emblematic one among the 19 produced by Michelotto. I hope we will see this unicorn during classical events such as Le Mans Classic or some concours of elegance.
