Fixing and reversing compensation patterns in the kinetic chain. ____ 🧬The most important movement for humans is being able to breathe properly and efficiently in order to stay alive and survive. When breathing is impaired, our body alters muscular activation in certain areas to keep a homeostatic environment to allow for efficient breathing. ____ 📌In a chaotic world like today, our daily living lifestyles reinforces muscular compensation patterns from hours of bad posture and lack of activity as a result of the many distractions in the world. In addition, compensations also occur during high velocity muscle contractions if a person’s limb and body structures are not resilient to stay in optimal position for proper breathing. ____ 📍To reverse the effects of muscle compensations, incorporating isometrics frequently will be key. During isometrics, the agonist and antagonist muscles that are under stress co-contract on and off to help engage the correct muscles to maintain the optimal posture. This co-contraction during isos happen extremely rapidly (~15Hz), this mirrors fast velocity contractions in muscles. As a result, isometrics will allow us to pinpoint where the body breaks down as a result of compensation so we can improve that area. ____ ✅Benefits (Too many to list here): 1️⃣Improved force and power output from being able to relax/turn off/lengthening antagonist muscles 2️⃣Lower chance of injuries 3️⃣Optimal stabilization and strength increase from improving weak links in the body _____ ⁉️The perfect position doesn’t exist because every person has different musculotendinous attachments and different anthropometric features. 💣 Trainers Need Trainers 💣 • For the past year and a half, I have been dealing with discomfort in my hip area. Oftentimes as trainers, we can be so focused on fixing everyone else's health that we can neglect our own health. 2 days ago, I had to take some time off from work because of the pain that I was experiencing. Although there are things that NEED to be addressed by a doctor, I knew that this was an issue that could be corrected without medicine. I decided to reach out to my guy @casey.schwarz who is also a trainer and one of the best in my opinion. • We all need a pair of eyes to see the things that we cannot. Even trainers need trainers. Although I'm not out of the woods yet, I feel so much better already. I've got much more work to do and I'm grateful to know trainers like Casey who don't let ego get in the way and are willing to share the tricks of the trade with a fellow fitness professional

Love these kind of runs! Had planned to do 12k but got a little lost and just kept running! Only a million hills- goal was to run at a consistent pace even if it meant slowing down! 🏃‍♀️ I discovered this week that I’m quite low in iron - I didn’t realise how much it could affect your performance!!! Last week took 2hrs to run 13.5k and I almost vomited / passed out - this week 2hrs for 17k - felt great and relatively easy. Only on three days of prescription iron tablets- please see a doc first though before you start popping pills 😉 Here’s a random thought- it always amazes me how long it is after a run before I need a wee 🤷‍♀️even though I’m chugging the water my body clearly wants to hold onto it! 🏃‍♀️
