Let’s talk about NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenics) ✖️neat is an amazing way to increase your caloric expenditure without having to kill yourself workout out for hours. ✖️neat is basically any activity that isn’t actual exercise, ie walking, cleaning the house, gardening etc ✖️the body wants to move. If we actually kept our bodies moving and fluid like we are supposed to we would have no problem managing our weights. ✖️I’ve made w conscious effort to walk to and from work (where the weather permits) (takes approx 35 minutes/1.8 miles) and my caloric expenditure has been through the roof this last week. ✖️an hour extra a day or walking, for me, burns an extra 300-500 kcal a day. ✖️ you don’t have to be smashing the gym 6 days a week, just be conscious to get out and walk for an hour a day. Do it before work, do it on your lunch, do it after work. Bar positioning in a squat. No two people are the same and no two squats will be the same. Varying the position of the bar can help to keep you balanced when squatting but also the position of the bar can target slightly different muscles. Taller people may benefit from having the bar lower down their back as the high bar position could cause you to lean forward. Also, your knees don’t have to move in front of your ankles quite as far so if you have limited ankle mobility this could be a better option. A lower bar position will target your posterior chain more (glutes/hamstrings) whereas heaving the bar higher up your back will cause more quad recruitment. If you find that your heels are coming off the floor when you squat, try playing around with the bar position and you could find that you quickly improve your squat. #TempsTips

Unfortunately this may be a shock to some, but I will NOT be competing at Waikato’s or Nationals this year. This has by far been the hardest decision I’ve made (trust me) especially when I’m actually ready and well on track, but i feel it is the right one to make this time due to the current situation I’m in. I’ve taken a massive step up at work and it’s always been a HUGE goal for me to reach this level. At this time I feel all of my time and energy needs to be dedicated to learning my new role and developing my team. Plus it worked out well because I can actually be there for @nicolamcpherson_ when she does her show! . I’ve been busting my ass off the last year and this year. I know I’ve made massive improvements to my physique and I was going to bring the best version of myself. That being said I will continue to bring another improved physique next year. This is not the end and trust me when I say this. @adhemz @cypfit @jakecampusnutrition @_sophweaverfit @bjornconstable @oscarallan_

#superslow Sundays! Belt on for extra weight, Negative (lowering part only) chins and dips are my fave part of training!
