🎶 Dancing bears,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December. 🎶
And since we are in the middle of December I took this opportunity to talk about on of my favourites movies ever! Anastasia, is an animated movie from 1997 and I remember being a child and to watch it a thousands times in a row in my sister's VHS cassete. Everything in this movies is absolutely monumental! The story, the soundtrack (which I know by heart), the places that appear, the characters! It is as great or even better than the majority of the Disney movies ever made. I learned a lot because of this movie, in particular the fact that the 20th Century Fox adapted a story of a real life person into a so called "children movie". For those of you who don't know or didn't watch the movie, Anastasia Romanov was one of the 4 daughters of the last czars of the Imperial Russia, Nicholas II and Alexandra. With the Bolshevik Revolution the royal family had to be mainted hidden due to the civil war where it was being felt the rising of the Communist rule. At the same time a group of Bolsheviks planned the death of the entire Romanov family. After their murder a lot of rumours were being spread regarding the possible escape of the duchess since her burial was never found in the following years. Consequently a lot of women falsely claimed to be Anastasia but the DNA testings confirmed the lies. Finally in 2007, two skeletons where found and proved by international laboratories to belong to Anastasia Romanov and her younger brother, Tsaverich Alexei.
The movie, on the other hand, tells us an happy ending story where Anastasia is actually alive and later reunites with her only familiy related left alive, her grandmother, the Empress Maria Feodorovna. At the same time she founds true love and defeats the long time impostor and villain, Rasputin.
If you haven't seen it yet, you have been missing a once in a lifetime experience of watching such a well accomplished movie. It was nominated for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score and Best Original Song in the Oscars of 1998! 😉
