A singer, writer, producer, mother and artist, music being her main but not only medium, MPHO creates a genre defying mix of sounds inspired by her South African heritage and being raised in South London’s Brixton neighbourhood where she still lives. Infused with soul, dancehall, folk, jazz and hip-hop, GVN’s music speaks of personal and social journeys and the struggles within them, eventually aiming to communicate the beauty of hope in the human journey.
After recording and performing as a backing and featured vocalist alongside artists such as Ms Dynamite, Natasha Beddingfield, Coldcut, Bugs in the Attic and Eska to name a few. MPHO pursued her own solo recording career releasing her music through independent labels Documented and Wall Of Sound, as well as Parlophone EMI, and is grateful Mohave traveled the world doing what she loves.
Her up-coming release through her label, We The Anomaly, after a long hiatus is the first in a triptych of EP’s to be released early in 2020. ‘PINK, Cause I’m Just a Girl’ explores
journey of her womanhood and is accompanied by a series of visual art works.
