40! Forty! Middle-aged?!! Well, I suppose it’s middle-age but I don’t feel like it is. In just 2 short months, I will be middle-aged and to be honest, I am ready for it. I am more confident than ever because I am surrounded by good, good people and I am making healthy mental and physical choices. But, when I dig deep, I’m a little scared. And most of that surrounds my kids. Forty means that I am just that much closer to my kids being in middle school, then high school and quickly out of the house. But, maybe that fear is driving me to do better...NOW. To do better when my kids are actually here and they are witnessing what it is like to make healthy choices. The healthy choices for me are praying every morning before I get out of bed and they sometimes walk in during that and calmly sit by my bed until I am finished. It is reading the Bible 1:1 with one of my sons every night. It’s making healthy food choices. It’s taking a walk around the block with just one son. It’s dancing in the kitchen with the littles. It’s noticing the sunrise and actually walking outside to take it all in. It’s self development. It’s improving my thinking through gratitude. It’s being a better version of me so I can be better for them. Being a better version of ME, not being a version of what I think others want me to be. This is 40! I read in an article today “I love being a middle-aged woman. Not because I don’t care about anything anymore, because nothing could be further from the truth. It’s because I know how to care about things that are actually going to have an impact on my life.” I completely resonate with this. Leaving behind what doesn’t positively impact. Fear drives me now where it used to cripple me. Here I come 40! I had great intentions of making this fruit omelet for you via a vlog. However, after forgetting half my cooking tools while videoing, starting my hot pad on fire, and shooting mostly my tummy, I decided to just post a pic and tell you about it! But the mindset of dieting has us feeling like we’ve failed completely. We feel bad about ourselves, and tell ourselves we’ll start tomorrow (or Monday), before you know it, a few months pass by and you’re back to your original weight, so what do you do? ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Go back on a diet! ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ This is where the industry makes its money- repeat customers! ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ How can you avoid this? ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Learn to listen to your body! ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Your body is a perfect machine and it is constantly talking to you! ***Maple Roasted Figs Salad with Fresh Ricotta Recipe!*** Made this wonderful salad for lunch and all I can say is that it’s truly delicious, easy to make and it’s a super quick recipe! Here’s how to make the roasted figs You need: 6 figs, halved 3 tablespoons mple syrup Method: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Put the figs, cut side up, in a baking dish. Drizzle the maple syrup over the figs and roast in the oven until very soft, 10 to 15 minutes. Add on top of your greens, add fresh ricotta, drizzle some balsamic vinegar and pumpkin/sesame seeds and it’s done! This dish makes the perfect ending to a relaxed lunch! I’ll be married 8 years this May to the guy I first met at 13 and argued with over the taste difference of store brand vs national brand hot dogs. 🙈 #iwasahandful #yikes We were friends for 7 years, and dated for 7 years before getting married in 2012.⁣ ⁣ 6. Had a really cool moment on the treadmill this morning. I was doing day 3 of C25K and playing on my playlist was the praise song "Glorious Day". 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴...that was the honesty moment I had to embrace this morning. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ I'm super competitive, especially against my "personal best" 🤦🏾‍♀️ This oddball has actually grown to 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 the push of a grueling workout, just to prove to myself that I can hang!😂⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ But when you have an autoimmune disease, managing stress levels is really important...and that includes watching the kinds of exercise you do.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ Challenging workouts can definitely be good for my overall health + wellness 💪🏾 Moderation is key though.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Thankfully, I have the tools at my fingertips that let me create this mashup barre/lifting program that works for me 🙌🏾⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ High energy, requires strength in different ways...but low impact + shorter workouts (read: less physical stress). Pride doesn't get a boost from nailing some 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 move, lol (I modify just about all the barre stuff + I'm not lifting heavy at all) But this is the 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 of stewarding my measure of health well, to + for the glory of God. Dialing things back a bit, in order to take intentional, purposeful care that's best for my body 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸 + 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘳𝘶𝘯. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ That strategy will help me stay fit to function + serve better, for life. And after all, that's the whole point 😉

Hey everybody! My name is Kobby and I am a mom of a type 1 diabetic. I am also an avid book reader, british monarchy enthusiast and a pizza connoisseur. We love pizza at our house....so much it's our dinner every friday night 😁. On December 17, 2018 our lives completely changed. My child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I had no idea what that even meant let alone how I was going to take care of her or what I was suppose to do. The hospital and doctors gave us the crash course and 3 days later we were sent home. Talk about nerve wrenching! Here we are a year later and rocking diabetes. We decided back in October of last year to start an Instagram page to chronicle our life with diabetes. Not only as a way to share our story but also to let people know they aren't alone and to help educate people who like me didnt know anything about type 1 diabetes. It's been an amazing adventure so far and I feel like I am still learning so much each day from all of you. This year we are going to continue with our goal of educating people and showing that living with type 1 doesn't have to ruin your life. You can still do, eat and achieve anything you put your mind too. Talk about goals, my kid wants to be the first diabetic astronaut 👩‍🚀. If there is a will there is a way! I also wanted to add that this year personally for me I've dubbed it as my year of #newbeginnings. I've set goals in the past but have never reached them. This year I've decided change needs to happen and with that it means I have to get healthy. Not only for my sake but for my kid. That means I will also be posting not only our everyday life with diabetes but also my journey of getting healthier. hey everyone, hope you all are having a great start to your new year. I have many goals for this year mainly focused around my faith and having a healthy lifestyle as a college freshmen. Over winter break I didn’t have access to a gym so I simply stuck to do doing at home workouts that included cardio and free weights. First steps.  We need to take the first step to get anywhere; our first steps as a child that lead into adulthood or the first step on a path to enjoy a hike.  The first step to take a walk, a run or even a journey can be easy while other first steps may be difficult. The first step may lead us to the success of a goal or we may trip and become a lesson to learn. I write these words and find they are dual purpose; a continuation of a journey I am currently on and the first step into sharing my story.  This first step is challenging in that I prefer to keep much of my life private, safe from the judgment of others; but my vulnerability may lead to someone’s inspiration. Three month keto-versary- 30lbs down!!!! I couldn't be happier with my progress. This is has been the best "diet" decision I have ever made. The best part about it is that it's not a diet at all.
