Ski Snacks!⛷🎿 My fiancé has been out in a Colorado on his annual boys trip, so I thought I would send some snickity snacks (my word for snacks). I made my sweet and spicy nuts & peanut butter energy balls! It was so hard to not steal any for myself. . Sweet & Spicy Nuts 4 cups nuts (I used pecans and walnuts, but you can just use pecans if you want!) 1 egg white, whisked 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp cinnamon Combine sugars and spices. In a separate bowl, mix together whisked egg white with nuts until coated. Combine dry ingredients and lay out in an even layer on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake at 300 for 40 minutes, tossing half way. . Peanut Butter Energy Balls 2/3 cup peanut butter (I have used almond butter too!) 2 tbsp honey 1 cup oats 1/2 cup chocolate chips 1/4 cup flax seeds 1/4 cup chia seeds Combine PB, oats, honey and seeds. Fold in chocolate chips. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes. Scoop some out and roll into a small ball (I used a melon baller, but a table spoon will work too!) When it comes to food, I live by the 80/20 rule most of the time. During the Christmas period and whilst on holidays, this percentage tends to move more towards 60/40. I’m only human right 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ve just returned from a wonderful camping holiday with my family, along the Limestone coast, where I enjoyed Pimms and wine a plenty, ice creams with my kids, daily cheese and biscuits during cocktail hour and not as much of the nourishing nutritious food as I would normally have at home. No complaints, it was a great holiday and I’d do it all again. However, I have some big goals that I want to achieve in 2020 with Modern Mums Movement and my ‘Find your Thrive’ program. It’s time to knuckle down and create my plan for achieving these goals. I know from past experience that I can’t thrive and achieve all of my goals if I’m lethargic, lacking mental clarity and brain power, which is how I’m feeling right now thanks to my eating and drinking habits over the past month. So my first task is to fix this. To gain back my energy, clear my head so that I can process all of my thoughts and to find the brain power to put these plans into action. I’m hitting the 90/10 rule for the next 60 days before returning to a balanced 80/20 lifestyle from then on. Kids Rainbow Energy Balls 🌈 . . My kids love these as a quick afternoon or mid ski snack thought you guys might like them too. 💚 . . Recipe 🌱1 cup oats (if you have picky kids you can pulse oats into oat flour for a smoother consistency, you can also sub for almond flour too). 🌱2 tablespoons shelled hemp seeds (protein & omegas - perfect sub for protein powder) 🌱 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed (protein, omegas & fibre) 🌱2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut flakes (if your kids don’t like the texture pulse it up with the oats or omit and add a bit more of one of the “dry” ingredients 🌱 1/2 cup peanut, almond or sun butter 🌱 1/4 cup honey 🌱 handful of M & M’s chocolate chips, raisins, dried cranberries or chopped nuts (we obviously went with M & M’s because we had them and they add a fun pop of colour that kids love). * if mixture seems a little dry add in more nut butter . . As a mom my fav thing about balls is that you can sneak nutrients into your kiddos, you know exactly what’s in them, and they are fun to make together. Where are my chocolate lovers at? 🍫 I had so many people reach out to me asking about the recipe for my protein balls, so I thought I'd jump on here and share it with you all. Also, anyone else have to hide to eat their snacks so their children don't take them all or is that just me? 🙋‍♀️ Chocolate protein balls: 2 cups almond butter 1 3/4 cups honey 2 1/4 cups Arbonne vegan protein powder (I used chocolate) 4 cups brown crisped rice Mix the almond butter and honey in a microwaveable bowl. Heat for 60-90 seconds. Mix well. Add protein powder and mix week. Add crisped rice and mix. Spread in 9×13 pan or roll into balls. Let chill in the fridge for an hour. They are so so yummy! Enjoy!

Healthy lemon 🍋 Coconut 🥥 ball My sister @taryn.wh and I had a big cook up yesterday making healthy snacks for the family and great little lunch box fillers for back to school next week. They are sooo yummy 😋 and everyone loved them. Recipe is INGREDIENTS 150 grams (1 cup) raw cashew nuts 175 grams (1 cup) Medjool dates pitted (any other date will work too) 45 grams (3/4 cup) unsweetened shredded coconut divided (save 1/4 cup to roll the balls in) 40 grams (1/4 cup) chia seeds Zest from 1 lemon 1 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice Use food Processor or Thermomix Blitz up the lemon rind first then add nuts blitz for a few seconds, then add the rest of the ingredients. Roll into balls and roll through the left over coconut. Place in fridge or freezer. We made double the batch and it made plenty for both our families. Yes, yes, you heard them speak, you listened to their words of wisdom, but more than anything, you SAW. 👀 I always grew up telling myself “I’ll never do that like my parents did” or “I’ll do that just like my parents did,” depending on the circumstance. It wasn’t anything they TOLD me that made me come to those conclusions though - it was what I witnessed and experienced. .⠀⠀ I am working towards becoming a more patient mom, being more actively present in my kids’ lives so that their experience of who I am and what it means to be a mother, or even a WOMAN, is reflected in who they become when they are grown. Tomorrow’s lunch= today’s leftover breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon. Keeping it simple but planning to prep some food after work tomorrow so the next 3 days are fresh. Snacks: a whole bag of rainbow carrots and celery washed and prepped for this week’s snacks, along with a variety of “dipping sauces” which include green goddess dressing, guacamole, and vegan ranch. I also made non-dairy, sugar free lemon cheesecake bites to grab from to satiate my sweet tooth in a pinch. (Technically a Keto fatbomb recipe). I’ve decided to restart my paleo way of eating to eliminate processed foods and bad carbs from my diet. Have you seen the Netflix documentary called The Magic Pill? I highly recommend it. Qué tal esta idea de onces? Encontré el otro día, en @fitmarketbogota1 esta mezcla DELICIOSA para hacer pancakes de @cumeyoficial Aquí preparé 1/4 de taza de la mezcla con 1/2 taza de leche de almendras sin azúcar y separo en dos bowls diferentes, (nótese que no me quedan de igual tamaño🤣) uno lo dejo tal cual y al otro le agrego una pizca de cocoa en polvo sin azúcar @hersheyscolombia y 1/2 cucharadita de miel de @productosdelbosqueseco y lo mezclo. Yo ando medio obsesionada con mi mini wafflera y todo lo que pueda, lo preparo aquí... Jeje. Pero pueden prepararlos en un sartén antiadherente y quedan perfectos. En la mini wafflera salen exactamente dos mini waffles pequeñitos. Al básico, le eché un poco de mermelada de arándanos hecha por mí🤪 y al de chocolate le eché un poco de crema de maní de @wakeup.nf y por encimita un pelín de canela en polvo y más miel y a eso suménle un café y queda uno listo para ir a entrenar! 💪🏻😝 #mealpreptats #healthysnacks #lovetocook #sweetcravings

Super long post but it’s MEAL PREP 101! so it’s fine lol . . Many of you have asked me for tips and tricks for meal prepping so here are some that have helped me: 🍎 Create a menu! This is initially hard but once you create one dish on paper, it makes creating others so much easier. Create ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner— this way you have so many options and it never gets boring! 🥑 Find foods that can be used in multiple types of dishes. For example, I add bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, or zucchini to just about any type of food, whether it be a burrito bowl or an asian style dish. This way you can buy things without worrying about if it will go to waste. 🍑 Find multiple sauces/marinades you can use for the same base. For pasta, I have a pesto I can use but if I’m feeling something different, I also have a red sauce. 🥦 Find healthy and sustainable alternatives to common foods. For example, I drink oat milk instead of cow milk and @eatbanza chickpea pasta instead of regular pasta. 🥕 Think of some healthy snacks so you can avoid processed snacks. I eat carrots and bell peppers with either @traderjoes spicy hummus or the goddess dressing and trust me, they make snacking soo yummy. Or I’ll eat cucumbers (that I also needed for my salad) with chaat masala (arguably the best indian spice😋). . . Being in school makes it tough to always eat healthy. But making my own meals kinda helps ensure I know exactly what I’m feeding my body. Plus these meals are so easy to make, they don’t take too much time at all. . . Both tart and sweet cherries have anti-inflammatory benefits. I recommend a mix of both. Consider adding sweet cherries to your bento and drinking tart cherry juice after class/training/practice/rehearsal.
