So I have been thinking about writing about my experience as a previous immigrant. These days, there is a lot of talk about immigrants and refugees and both groups are often labeled negatively, which I find an outmost cruel stance against people who are just trying to survive and bring their families to safety!
So I wanted to bring into words what it means to be an immigrant, which has been on my mind for a long time, but the idea got often pushed away by other ‘priorities’, insecurities to express my feelings in public and to step out of my comfort zone.
I would love to make this an interactive way of sharing our stories, and while the experience of leaving your country to another foreign country is frightening and must have been traumatic for many of immigrants, it also has a positive side, so let’s discuss both sides. How has this experience affected you mentally, emotionally, career and family wise? what did you turn up to be? what would you advise new immigrants, or anyone actually, based on your experience?
I chose instagram because I would like to add a picture to each of my future posts; pictures always trigger a certain feeling or a memory.
I hope this platform grows to be a place where people get inspired to be better … :) To be continued... #life #immigrants #nature #survival #surviving #travel #moving #change
