Last week, I told you we had a book cover. This week, I’m thrilled to share that The Henna Artist is available for pre-order! 10 years in the making, I can’t believe it's finally a reality. I’ve also been so touched by the reviews that have come in from fellow authors thus far:
“Read this book slowly and savor it: Every page is rich with intricate pleasures for both the mind and the heart." #AnitaAmirrezvani
"The Henna Artist" kept me riveted from start to finish…Debut novelist Alka Joshi opens a door into a world that is at once lush, fascinating, stark, and cruel.” @laurenbelfer1
“The Henna Artist is a bold, ambitious, beautifully written novel, about India in the decade after independence, and about class, identity, love, and deceit.” #TomBarbash
So many of you have told me that you’re loving my mother’s story in my Wednesday posts. The Henna Artist is my way of honoring her life by rewriting her story, taking readers back to 1955 Jaipur--8 heady years after India’s independence. But the novel isn’t only one woman’s story; it’s the story of every woman who has yearned for a different life, to be something greater than she was told she could be. I hope it’s a story you’ll connect with. +
I’m sure my mother will be smiling down on anyone who reads the novel :-) I’d love for you to visit the pre-order links in my bio, read the book summary, and place an order! The best part is that the more pre-orders we receive, the more inclined bookstores are to stock it on their shelves.
In future posts, I’ll also share with you the process of publishing with a major publisher. It’s a steep learning curve, and I’m enjoying every challenging, thrilling, beautiful minute of it!
