Well after almost a week with no power from the ❄️ I realized there are a few benefits to eating with the lights off. 🕯️First, dinner by candlelight can be very romantic ❤️ and somehow my crazy kids are calmer than normal when sitting down to eat when the lights are dim 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 👏🏻They didn’t eat a lot, but they didn’t complain about anything on their plate either. Turns out, eating in the dark can actually be a really good thing for all of us.😲💪🏻👊🏻 . . 🌒Research has found that when you eat in dim lighting, you actually eat smaller portions & perceive the food as taster as well (so now I am definitely serving new foods to my family in the dark on a regular basis😝). And it makes sense. Think about if you go out to eat. Restaurants that want you to eat fast, like fast food restaurants, all use bright florescent lights. But fine dining tends to have dim lighting, candles, and a much more relaxed atmosphere. So if you want to cut your portions & feel more satisfied, try turning down the lights when you eat. It was pretty amazing to see what happened with my own family. TIP 1️⃣: Re-Evaluate Your Training. 👉🏽 Add intensity 👉🏽 Change moves, so you can target the SAME muscles in a different way. 👉🏽 Vary repetitions. Switch up the number or reps and sets for EVERY move. 👉🏽 Change rests between sets. Mix things up by shortening or lengthening rest time. - TIP 2️⃣: Re-Evaluate Your Nutrition. We often UNDERESTIMATE how much we INTAKE and OVERESTIMATE how much we USE . Be honest with: 🍏 WHAT, 🍏 WHEN, and 🍏 HOW MUCH you are EATING. It’s Monday, a day most might dread. This year it’s been my favorite day of the week, because it sets the tone for the whole week. So far today I was able to get up to enjoy some breakfast and coffee while baking some sourdough loafs. Started some new dough for the day. Read aloud to the kids from our current reader. Got the kids settled into their copywork and decided that was an opportune time to squeeze in today’s workout- quick and done! Will finish up the kids school work this, photo editing and dough making. Feeling productive on Monday makes the rest of the week feel manageable. Get after it today 💪🏻💪🏻

#flashbackfriday 🔥 Three years ago! Izzie looks so much like Mikey here! I remember when I went back to work after having her and I wanted so desperately to be home with her 24/7. I was miserable! A lot has changed since then. I started my little coaching business right after this picture was taken. I was SURE I was going to be able to make my dream of staying home with her come true. I didn’t care how long it took, I just knew I would get there. I worked my butt off and built a successful business while working full time with a new baby. Crazy? Maybe. But usually my craziest ideas are my best ones. 😆 Now? I’m still working on my business with TWO babies but I’m not sure I’m cut out to be a stay at home mom. 😂 Did I really just say that? Yes! Because it’s true! I think it’s good for Izzie and Mikey to see mommy go to work, and to go to school with their cousins and friends. They are WILD ANIMALS and sometimes mommy just wants to go to work. 😝 Plus I love my job again... so there’s that! #laboranddeliverynurse Dreams change, plans change. We hit goals and we miss goals. We think we want something and it turns into something else. I will never give up on my business. It’s been quite a roller coaster these past 3.5 years since starting my business but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m still here. I’m still helping moms and nurses start their own businesses. How I’m spending Black Friday. Making up yesterday’s workout. Spent the day enjoying family and relaxing. This was the first thanksgiving in years where I didn’t feel stuffed to the brim. Do you CRINGE at the thought of going back home for the holidays because you know at least one family member is going to nitpick your appearance as soon as you walk through the door? 🙋🏽‍♀️ . Do the holidays give you so much grief that you have contemplated (more than once) to not show up AT ALL? 🙋🏽‍♀️ . Let’s be honest, WE HAVE ALL BEEN HERE. . As I write this I can still remember someone asking me: 💁🏽‍♀️ - “Are you SURE you want to have another roll with butter? 💁🏽‍♀️ - “Is it me or are you curvier than usual?” 💁🏽‍♀️ - (And my favorite) “What happened to you?” . Although I know the bulk of the comments were well-intentioned, they still hurt nevertheless. 🥺 I mean I knew deep down that they only wanted the best for me. . But, what they didn’t realize is that when they brought up my weight and made judgements about it, I felt REALLY hurt, and it was hard to recover from it. . I was already self-conscious about the way I looked as it was and the people who are suppose to love me the most were adding to my stress levels. And this made me feel even worse than I already did. . And what they also didn’t realize is that I was not going to make the changes that WERE NEEDED until I was ready to TRULY commit. Their “comments and suggestions” didn’t move me two steps forward, it moved me 4 steps back 😩 . I almost ALWAYS started my “NEW DIET” the next day, but as ALWAYS I was only successful for a few weeks before I was stuck in the cycle of starvation, misery, and helplessness. I did this for so long, despite failing consistently. . So what has changed that I am NO LONGER the topic of conversation, and instead I am the go-to person for ALL things health and fitness? . I accepted I couldn’t do this weight loss thing on my own, and hired a coach after LITERALLY hating the person I saw in the mirror. Then I took what I learned from and began educating myself even more, and now I am educating women just like you, lose weight WITHOUT sacrificing foods and drinks they love. . Remember Mama! Yesterday was a crazy busy day and I did not fit my work out in. I should have gotten up and done it in the morning but I didn't. I should have made time but I couldn't. I spent most of my day on the phone with Bell then at the Bell store... then spent a few hours transferring all my info onto my new phone all while trying to make dinner for 3 kids. My fiance was great and helped out. By the time I was done everything it was 8 PM and I still then needed to do bedtime with all the kids. I also find if I work out too close to bed time I don't sleep well. There were lots of "I should have" moments but life does take over sometimes. Today is a new day and a fresh start to get my work out in. After a Hip Flexor maintenance video, went straight into the Hatha Practice video. Reminding myself that as much as the act of working out is so important for my body, so is the maintenance of it. Went for an adjustment yesterday that was way over due and realizing I need more of this in my routine to keep things moving properly. Also, realizing how much stretching benefits how my body moves too. I thought I could get away with not properly stretching before workouts and now dealing with an overly tight hip flexor 🤦🏻‍♀️ So this is me reminding myself to do ALL things 🙌🏻💪🏻🔑 _o_leena So many great maintenance videos in my future 🙌🏻🙌🏻

It was a cold day today! But I did it!! After a few days of not walking I just had to get out! As soon as I started walking I realized how much my body had missed walking. My goal is always 6 miles but sometimes it’s 4 or 5. Either way I’m super proud my of self for getting out and walking in the cold. The kids were bundled and payed at the playground while I walk and talked Jesus on the phone with the best! So I’m super happy how my movement went today!
