Elliott and his brother Daniel were both under 5 years old and in foster care when they began showing aggression towards each other and their foster parents. They were quickly moved to the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center where a development assessment was completed. The boys were fast-tracked into the Rady Children’s Hospital KidStart program that has provided ongoing support services to help stabilize their situation. The brothers now live with a new foster family. Services are continuing and are well-facilitated by a Care Coordinator funded by Promises2Kids. With a strong and supportive circle of care, the boys are improving.
Foster children are more likely to experience a developmental delay as a result of their environment, trauma endured and multiple moves, that led to them being in foster care. The KidStart program provides assessment, referrals, education, support and case management for children ages 0 to 5 to help address these needs.
For less than $2/day, YOU can make sure that Elliott and Daniel have the services they need to develop into healthy, well adjusted children.
