I had a conversation today with someone about Art and what the definition of it is. Of course, there is no set definition. Even Webster has conflicting definitions because of its uses in this world. What does it represent? What emotions does it invoke? Is it physical? Metaphorical? What is Art? No one truly knows, except for what they recognize within themselves. For all my painting fans, think back to Picasso and his Cubism period. Some people saw that and said "what the fuck?" And hated it immediately, others saw it and fell in love because of its differences. Cubic artists wanted to do something non-tradional with their work and tell the world that there are OTHER perceptions of art.
Art is an indefinable entity in itself. It is always changing and adapting. You may see Basketball- for example, as just two teams trying to put a ball into a basket- which is true- but to me, it has the art forms of footwork, shooting mechanics, passing abilities, and dunking skills. Your art definition is far different from mine. Our interpretations of songs could be different- you love new school mumble rap, I love old school gangsta rap. Are either of us wrong from liking different things? Absolutely not. Our levels of appreciation skew and that is human nature. Our differences in thoughts and opinions, and walks of life, and methods of living are ALL beautiful and shouldn't be used as tools to chip us down to nothing.
Life is Art. People will look at your canvas and not understand the time, effort, and heart you put into your piece, and that's okay. But to those few people that look at it and see the beauty of it all... Keep those collectors close to your heart. They're going to be waiting in anticipation for your next masterpiece. ❤
